In the past, some tests have subjected prisoners to STD infections and some have had medicines tested on them without consent. This is not necessarily widespread, just that it has happened. I am pretty sure that informed consent is taking place nowadays in most prisons in the US and UK but who knows what happens in these places or elsewhere. The world can be a cruel place and we find everyday that those in power try to write their own rules.
