Euthanasia or mercy killing is the act of ending the life of a person suffering from a terminal illness or an incurable disease by injecting a lethal injection or by stopping extraordinary medical treatment by a doctor.

The first country to legalize euthanasia is Netherlands in April 2002. Belgium became the second country to legalize euthanasia in September in the same year.

Switzerland allows suicide assisted by doctors and those with medical training but euthanasia is not legal in the country. US state of Oregon enacted a law that allows physician assisted suicide in November 1994. The US government has tried to challenge this law but so far has not been successful.

Euthanasia should 100% be legal, what is wrong with a person who is terminally ill and ready to die wanting to go earlier than their illness decides. I think you need to put yourself in their shoes before saying I need to talk to a professional. There are many professionals who believe the same as me.

Euthanasia is legal wherever you want because after you die it won't matter if it was legal or illegal!!

Euthanasia should be legal in each state. No need to be terminally ill. It should available to any person who want to move pass this world with dignity.

Euthanasia is an issue of autonomy the right to choose what one does with their own body. Many people only consider the aspect of life or death but it has other consequences also. It can be a great burden on families emotionally with diseases such as Alzheimers if a person can't remember who they are or their family or even function properly by themselves what kind of life is that. This whole miracles happen crap is ridiculous some diseases are curable but others aren't and a person shouldn't have to live in agony. There is also a financial burden families end up owing hospitals thousands of dollars to keep a patient alive that didn't even want to live anymore. They would spend their last moments in pain and suffering and leave behind a huge debt for their family to pay or they could legalize euthanasia the patient could say goodbye to their family and have a dignified and timely death. I think the answer is obvious

Our rights end up where other person right's start. If you want to terminate your life before it will  happen without a doubt is your call, you are not causing any damage to anyone near you. You prefer to die instead of suffering unnecessary pain and that's what I would want if sth terrible happens to me

Do you have to be obviously terminal....or can this be illness that's just become unbearable and/or mental illness?

It should be legal for people suffering with mental illness also, as that can also be as crippling as physical illness or terminal diseases. Freedom is rare enough as it is, who is the goverment to tell us wether we live or die?

Some people don't like to live in pain or in a state of demensia. Have your opinion but don't insult other while doing so. Clearly ignorant.

I don't think euthanasia should be legal at all. I think it's a very inhuman act, and it's wrong. If someone is going through a lot of pain then they are not thinking with thier right mind. Miracles happen everyday, and if that person has a chance to live then it should be taken.
