No, the owner cannot go to jail. The rental agreement is not a law, but a contract between two parties, the landlord and the tenant, and if it is not followed, either party can cancel the contract. If it was only one day, the landlord could offer to refund the rent for that day.

There was no falsification if the appliances were already ordered. The only penalty would be the contract could be declared void.
