Like, forever. The warrant tolls statute of limitations. I have seen folks held on 20 year plus warrants from failure to appear on minor violations. If the charge is worse than a minor violation then expect high bail to be set by the Court upon the warrant's return. I write for New York State but I expect it is the same in other state's.
Never good to have a warrant history. It can prevent the granting of reasonable bail in the future. The Assistant District Attorney on your case constantly remind the Court that you have a "warrant history" every time your "custody arrangements" are discussed for the rest of your life.
