I'm not sure this is completely accurate. While I join with all my friends in condemning the woman and am optimistic that she will get what she deserves, the account I read said that she "complained mildly" about her accommodation. I had the impression she said something ironic like, "Well it isn't the Hilton, is it?" and the press, eager to feed public outrage, beat it up into a preposterous complaint from a privileged woman.
But the accounts I read (I think it was in the New Yorker) also said that under Texas law, Ethan will not serve any time after his 19th birthday. And if he gets away with it a second time, your law is a bloody joke.
Send her back to Mexico and let her see how she likes the conditions there.
