A trainee, or training, certificate usually consists of four main sections: The title section, the section of certification, signatures and company or organization information. These sections should be laid out and contain information as follows. The numbers in brackets represent suggested font sizes and all lines should be centered.

  • Title section
If applicable, company logos should appear in the top left and right hand corners of the page. As a rule, the page is headed by the title ' Certificate of Training' in a fairly large font (48). This is then followed by the course title (28), the course duration (18), a course sub-heading, if applicable (18) and the course venue (18).

  • Certification
This section is typically headed by the words 'This is to certify that' (10 to 12), which is then followed by a line, allowing enough space for the name of the relevant trainee to be entered by hand. Below this line, the statement is continued with 'has successfully completed the above course' (10 to 12). This may be followed by a more specific description or additional information if applicable (10 to 12). This should preferably not exceed four to six lines.

  • Signatures
This section starts off with 'For' and the name of the training company or trainer (14), followed by 'Signed' (14) in the next line and a line or space for the relevant signature. It then continues with 'For' and the trainee's sponsor or company(14), 'Signed' and a space as above. Just below this last space, the word 'dated:' (14) should appear slightly offset to the left.

  • Company Information
The page is finished off with either the training or client organization's name (20), followed on the next line by relevant information such as registration, credits, quality marks or website (10 to 12).
