If you go to your local county recorders office, they will have all of the information that you may need. You may first have to visit the Planning and Zoning Department if the recorders office has the specific property you are interested in filed under its long legal description. You can obtain all of that information at the P&Z offices.

This should be on you rental papers ! If not go to your assessor country clerk recorder on line. Click to property description, click the address you live at, will bring up address of person who owns the house. Then write them your problem, send in mail so they have sign for it, the signture card comes back to you !

I am going through this same problem I started renting a house four months ago and the owner was some what a family friend and we had no papers or lease aggrements.Yesterday a lady gets a hold of me saying she owns this house and she wasn't aware of any residents living here. She told me she had a dead if I wanted to look at it and is not asking me to move but my rent would be increased, plus I would owe her first months and last months rent plus a deposit. I fell like this is a scary dream this house is cheap and all I can afford, now some stranger  is telling me I have to pay her more money. I got a hold of my landlord or what I thought was the owner of the house all up till yesterday and she tells me she is not aware of any of this and she'll get a hold of her lawyer on Monday and let me know what is going on. All I know is rent is due on the 1st but who to? And am I entitled to get my deposit that I already paid, and why whould I have to pay another to this new lady??
