The law generally differs in every country. In case a 17 year old has ran away and the 18 years below is considered a minor then the law will not file any kind of charges. So that again depends on the country that you are presently in and whether the age 17 is adult or minor.

The law if at all may file an FRI for the lost and at the most you will have to give details about the 17 year old. The moment they come across with any kind of similarities with your details then will you be asked to identify the child. Apart from this there may be some other specifications, which I am not be aware of so it is best that you contact any kind of legal agents or lawyers or your local police in this case.
