The content of this letter very much depends on what it is you want to say, for example you have not said whether you are notifying a tenant of something to do with the rent, or whether you are the tenant and want to let your landlord know something about the rent.
Either way, you need to set it out properly so that it will get the attention it needs. Unless you are the landlord and have headed notepaper, put your address at the top right-hand side of the page; leave a line and put the date (written in full, not abbreviated). Leave another line and then write any reference that you may have so the recipient is aware of what the letter concerns.
Leave another line and write the name (if you know it) and address of the person that you are writing to, only this should be on the left-had side of the page. Leave another line and write your salutation. The salutation should include the name of the person if you know it, otherwise you can write, 'Dear Madam' or 'Dear Sir'.
Leave a space between each paragraph that you write so the letter is easy to read, and make sure that you keep to the point. Try to avoid beginning your letter with, 'I am writing to tell you...' because it is obvious that you are writing.
When you have completed your letter you finish it one of two ways. Either, 'Yours faithfully,' or 'Yours sincerely'. If you have used the name of the person in your salutation, then use 'sincerely'; if you used 'Sir' or 'Madam' then you need to use 'faithfully'. The 's' and the 'f' of sincerely and faithfully are never capitalized, and there are no other choices, so definitely no 'Yours truly' or any other letter writing abomination.
Leave a few spaces under this and sign your name. Finish your letter by leaving another space and printing your name.
