I would check the paint and if it's still in good condition I would ask him why he wants it re painted.
If it doesn't look as good as when you left it, ask him what happened to it. If you can show him the documents of the paint job and when it was done, maybe suggest that if he wants it re painted for no other reason than he wants something new, suggest he can have it done at his own expense. I would say maybe every three years a new paint job is in order.
