I believe ex president George W Bush is a criminal and should be prosecuted for several reasons. Not just Guantanamo bay. He also let Fannie mae and freddy mac grant mortgages to people that they knew would never repay. He started a war ,which in my opinion was about oil more than terrorism.
And is responsible for the lives of every service man who did not come back from it . So yes I personally think he should be prosecuted and found guilty for several reasons . And I am a republican.

Thank you for your candor. Torture was just the tip of the iceberg. Bush's and Cheney's attitude that they were above the law is a dangerous one for our president to have. We are a nation of laws, and to take liberties with that is a disservice to all Americans.

I think we should investigate with full authority to find out the facts and the underlying reasoning for all the events and the actions taken. This is more for the benefit of the country to learn from the very costly lessons, and to preserve the truth for history for all mankind.

Whether anyone should be punished for crimes should not be the primary reason for the prosecution. We are all guilty in varying degrees--from voting to being indifferent. We are all punished accordingly. But we will have diminished the valuable lessons in human development if we only focus on "the pound of flesh".

You are ever the voice of thought and reason. I agree that any investigation or prosecution should not be conducted with "revenge" or "the pound of flesh" in mind. That should not be the objective. I am not so certain that letting their actions pass will allow this country to heal, and I am uneasy about the future. To set such precedents without accountability is dangerous.

Oh, no. We should never cover up the truth. We should preserve and let it be known, delayed for a convenient period of time perhaps. No one should be let off the hook. They all should be held accountable for their action. But flogging in public is not so important to me. It does not make me any happier. It does not ease the pain of all those whose lives have been destroyed.

Accountability in this country...hmmmm, that's something I have not seen very much of over the years.  Yes, I believe a full-blown investigation should be conducted, and if these two men, plus any others, are at fault, by golly, prosecute to the FULLEST DEGREE!  Many of our higher elected officials say "do as I say", not "do as I do"...you know the old double standard routine that goes on continually until our United States' citizens are just about filled up with their lies and schemes...

After a full investigation any punishment deemed necessary should be dealt out. None of this bull about "letting the nation heal" like after watergate when ford pardoned nixon. The nation needed no healing. Proper healing would have been helped by cleaning the wound first, right?

You know, a lot of people blame Bush for our problems, but we critique from a stance of ignorance. We don't know the information he was given. We don't understand the fullness of his decisions, and we are Not at a place to judge him...

Keep in mind that 8 attacks were Prevented on US soil from the Quantanamo interrogations. 8 "September 11ths"... Think about that for just a moment, and what has changed since 9/11

Step back for a moment and look at the situation, Why are they attacking us? Because we are the largest, richest country? NO. It's because we violate Daily what they hold precious in their religion. Women walk about with far more than their faces showing, we violate their honor and rules to the point that we are Honestly perceived as the "Great Evil" in their world. They are out to Kill us, Destroy us, and celebrate over our ashes.

That in mind, when one is captured, they feel surrounded by Religious enemies. Holding their tongues is part of keeping their faith and honor. We are seeking safety and protection, and they certainly don't want to grant us that. So, do you want to be safe at home? Honestly? What are you willing to do to keep that safety?

I agree torturing is wrong, I also understand that Americans don't like dealing with ANY consequences of our decisions. We don't want to deal with our credit cards, our lack of boundaries, our wasting of resources, and apparently dealing with the consequences of keeping our country safe.

You make some valid points, but I have to disagree about not knowing why they made the decisions to torture, because they don't matter. It sounds as if you thought out what you said, but you failed to address the question.

It matters a lot WHY something was done so that, if wrong, we will be wiser and not repeat the same mistake. That's why we should obtain all the background info while we can. Like to find out: Why do some groups hate us so desperately?
Those so-called "Prevented terrorist attacks" Bush claims credit for have largely been debunked as exaggerated fantasy schemes by amateur fringe groups, hardly the equivalent of 9/11.
Bush probably believed in his decisions. History will judge him based on them.

I agree that torture is inhumane, I also understand that 8 attacks on US were Prevented from what happened. 8 "September 11ths" were stopped. I also understand that those they are questioning would NOT cooperate with anything short of torture, they keep their secrets for the honor of their religion.

I know I don't follow their faith, but I do know that in following mine that if someone tortured me and placed a gun to my head I would stand by my religion. My hope and prayer is that God would give me the strength when nothing else of my body was left.

(Disclaimer: NOT supporting terrorists.) See they aren't doing this for fun, they Honestly think we are their equivalent of the Anti-Christ, they think we are Honestly evil, and refuse to share because they want to Destroy us.

People dis Bush for what he did, but American are ignorant, and we don't like to deal with the consequences of our actions. We were attacked, and yea, Bush made a lot of mistakes, but we did Not get attacked again, and it Wasn't because the terrorists weren't trying.

Probably, yes.....I don't trust either one of them---especially Cheney. I am not as 'Up' on politics as my husband, but I do read some, and watch the news....So, I really can't say much...Aren't the "Leaders" SUPPOSED to be Responsible?
So, I would say, YUP! They should be...love, cyndi

I do not know and the reason why I say that is how come it is ok for others to torture American citizens and cut heads off of people but when Americans do it then it is wrong

No. Absolutely not. You people who think he should should have someone you love kidnapped. Then do nothing but be nice to the kidnappers because you don;'t want to offend anyone. Are you people nuts. I hope those people who you are going to let go come live in your neighborhood right next door. And please no complaining about them because that would be racial profiling.

Thats right dk. Everyone, including bo bo and his partners in crime. Nothing has changed at all. NOTHING. If bo bo is excluded from prosecution, wouldn't that be reverse descrimination? Since his alleged win of the white house, he has done nothing to alter the course of detainee's, well except try and move them onto our soil.

Only if obama is prosecuted as well. Nothing has changed since bo bo took office.
