My step-son is soon to be 21 years old...finishing his first year of college.  My husband never collected child support (12 years) from his ex-wife.  Can he pursue child support at this time to help with costs while Matt attends college?  If so...do you think he would be awarded the child support?

The cutoff date for child support is18 years old. The only monies you will be receiving, is any missed payments or in arrears.

My son is 18 and finished High School thank god..he still receiving child support monies. I live in NY and I guess when they realize that he is no longer in school, they will cut it off but until then... He's still getting it and its been 3 months after his 18th birthday.

The age for NY State is 21.  I have a stepdaughter that is going into her 3rd year of college and my husband has to pay until she is 22, allowing her to complete 4 years of college with  support.  I live on Long Island.  Don't go by the email you have gotten.  As far as I know you have to go to Family Court to to stop the payments when the child turns 21 it does not usually happen automatically.  Call child support and delete the email.

I think the general rule is 18 years of age, but I could be wrong. I wasn't sure if it was different in each state or not.
