Apparently, it depends on what sort of community service you're doing. You could very well be told to work on a bank holiday.

I'd suggest contacting your supervisor, or whoever it is you usually report to. I'm sure they'll know whether you're supposed to be working or not!
I'm wondering if anybody with experience in the matter would be able to advise you better. There's no clear information online about it, and it's better to be safe than sorry, so I definitely think you should ask directly. You don't want to get in trouble for not turning up!
