It's wrong  full stop.If you can't do the time don't do the crime end of.And in the case of al-Megrahi he was found guilty of plotting and executing 270 people innocent people. In some parts of the world people get executed for killing one person. They don't deserve compassion as they leave a lifetime of mourning and grief to those left behind.

Wrong on all levels, anyone who plots to murder another life deserves the same lack of compassion that they showed thier victims, they should die behind lock and key,I think it was disgraceful and treasonous of the Scottish Parliament to have set this man free,

Yes,if a convicted murderer is certified having terminal pancreatic cancer and is expected to die imminently then it can be called an 'a merciful act' to release him back home to be cared-for,nursed,tended until his demise.
This was the basis for Scottish Justice Secretary Kenny Maccaskill releasing Abdul Baset Al-Megrahi,and it did not interfere with the other issue of supposed major criminality.
Apart from that,Al-Megrahi [like American girl,Amanda Knox] has always pleaded his innocence;the trial at Camp Zeist [Netherlands] was a complete farce/waste-of-money; Libya should never have paid 1-cent in compensation, let alone billions, even if it didn't concede blame;--
And the original plotters/bombers of Pan-Am103 in December,1988 have never been brought to book for their horrific revenge crime.

Marshall: Furthermore: You are not William Shakespeare, nor even a pale imitation of that great English poet, because your writings are stained and tainted by your toxic cancerous abuse and your unopened waste packages of foul-mouthed rubbish which even the Dustmen refuse to handle or remove. --If I ever hear from you again I will slit my throat.
