OHS or Occupational Health and Safety meetings are extremely important because they help employees and employers keep health and safety procedures fresh in their mind.

These meetings do more than just refresh the health and safety measures needed in a place of business. They are also going to examine any health and safety occurrences, follow up actions taken, and identify any problems seen during an incident. All companies have a health and safety management manager, as well as a system in place to ensure all regulations for health and safety are managed appropriately. The management system is designed to identify any risks, track them, and react to any incidents that occur in order to maintain and achieve OHSA compliance.

Consider an example of an incident in the work place. Someone is in a warehouse on a ladder getting some inventory down, but this person is not being spotted by anyone meaning they are alone in the warehouse. The person suddenly falls and though bruised feels okay and does not go to the doctor right away. They later learn the fall injured their hip, so they want to file a worker's compensation claim, but there is no witness or documentation to prove the incident happened. The company can refuse to pay due to employee negligence. On the other hand, the OHS meetings should have made it clear no one is on a ladder alone in a warehouse to help prevent accidents thus reducing the risk to employees.

OHS meetings ensure that all employees and the employer are very aware of what could happen in a workplace based on health issues and safety. Without meetings, it is harder to determine that any system is in place, let alone how that system should work regarding health and safety in any business.
