CCJ is a financial term. It is the abbreviation of County Court Judgment. It is a court order made against a debtor regarding his outstanding debts and credits. A CCJ has to be paid within a time limit of thirty days to avoid its listing in the credit register. If there are listings of CCJ's on the credit register then it can have great adverse effects in mortgage and loan options of a person. If you are refused credit then one of the reasons is that a CCJ may have been made against you.

Whenever a CCJ is made it is recorded in the Register of Judgments, Orders and Fines. Hence you can find out about the CCJ in your name by checking this register. You can also find out about the CCJ from the credit reference agencies. They usually have a copy of your CCJ and would provide you with one if you put in a request. Pay off your CCJ as soon as possible to avoid further troubles and entanglements.

I am currently renting a property from a private landlord, after leaving my husband. I am a 62 yr. Old pensioner with no dependants. I have got a CCJ against me from our previous address, and I have been told by my landlord, that since I have always paid my rent on time and in full, that he will give me an excellent reference. I am trying to relocate to Milton Keynes, and I am dreading the fact that I may be turned down due to this CCJ, however, whilst living in MK in a house for over 30 years, I always paid the rent on time, but my husband accrued a debt of £600 which I was paying back out of my Pension before I left him. I signed over an Assignee of the Lease, and as I am in the process of divorcing him, I was told that I would be responsible for half of the rent owing on the property, but I have not been approached by the Council for any of the monies owing back.

I have found a property I am anxious to rent, and wonder if this will impede my ability to finding a place of residence. I have been informed that my credit rating is excellent, and was able to procure this property from a Letting Agent in Northamptonshire.
