The autopsy photos of Reeva Steenkamp have made headlines for three reasons:
- They are the truly shocking images of a beautiful woman killed in her prime.
- They are part of the most prolific murder trial in history.
- They were leaked or accidentally shown during the trial, and the reaction from Pistorius and others attending the court case was complete shock and horror.

The actual autopsy photos have not been leaked however. This is partly because the images are still being used in the trial of Oscar Pistorius, so it would influence the legal proceedings if they were leaked.
The other problem is that in the family of the deceased, the Steenkamp family, are still in mourning and it would be insensitive and crude to release pictures of Reeva Steenkamp's corpse.
