Hi , im trying to find out if there is a law in canada stateing if you build a fence it must be 4 feet from your property boundry? I built a fence and my neighbour says i must take it down

Normally those are in city or MD by-laws. Not a federal or provincial law. Check out your city by-laws don't take her word for it. I know in our town here that that rule does not apply to fences (although there is a law on the height of the fence), that law here only applyies to actual building structures such as sheds. I have heard of towns nearby here that the height limits change depending on how close you are to the property line. The farther away from it you build the higher your fence is allowed to be. But even there you are allowed to put up a fence right on the property line so long as it is the correct height.
