A monolithic court system would be disastrous in the USA.  Since each state has the right to create it's own state laws, they have the right to their own courts to interpret and enforce those same laws.

A monolithic court system would mean that the federal courts would get total jurisdiction over all of the states and impose the same rulings regardless of state laws.

In a republican form of government, people are represented by politicians who create laws in the way that those who voted them into office want the laws to be created.  People from one state may create a different set of laws than people from another state.  A monolithic system would render state laws void and impose federal statutes over all of the states.
