Find a legal aid society in your area they helped me once, or depending what state you live in (I'm in NY) you can go to county clerks office and file..once you go in front of judge he will ask you if you have a lawyer..if you say you want one but can't afford one he will appoint one to you. My friend ended up w/one better than her ex's!!!!!

Sorry to hear that, that will be tough. Go and find an attorney who will make the other party to pay for the divorce. Considering she has no income that won't be as hard as it seems.

Sometimes an attorney will make the husband pay for his fees if she has no income. Perhaps you can lend her the money if you want her to have representation.

We can offer her some money, but if they (mother and father) decide to fight in court, there would be no way we could keep up with their money. Thank you for your input.

At a time when things are at their best in your marriage get him to get you a car in your name on his credit. You can put your name on all the bank accounts and though it may take some time to get your ducks lined up it will be something to look forward to and the security of knowing you will have money and a car when you leave.

My husband has filed for divorce after 22 years of marriage. He says I won't get anything. He doesn't care If I loose the house. I have been a stay at home mom up until September 08 which I finished real estate school. I have made a total of 1920.00 since then. He says he will only have to pay alimony for about 90 days. I can't help that our economy is in a rut and houses aren't selling like they use to. I live in the state of Tennessee and want to know what my rights are and what he can be made to do. I don't want the divorce at all but I have no choice.
